Hotel industry rediscovers Russia – nearly 160 new upcoming

Investors are focusing more and more on the East: Russia is the new Eldorado for hotel investors and operators. Putin's empire counts 159 new large hotels under current construction or development with a total of 49,700 rooms. 28 of those alone in Moscow. 25 new hotels are being built in Sochi in Southern Russia until the Winter Olympics 2014. These findings have been derived from TOPHOTELPROJECTS, the leading information service for international hotel construction and development projects. The latest project is the Hyatt RegencyMoscow (TOPHOTELPROJECTS Nr. 13366). This lifestyle business hotel with 297 rooms (including 40 suites) and 56 luxury apartments will open in 2015 next to Moscow's Dynamo stadium.
The latest Hyatt hotel project is just one out of four projects in total. Furthermore there are development plans and construction works for the Hyatt Regency Sochi, Hyatt Regency Wladiwostok (Golden Horn) and the Hyatt Regency Wladiwostok (Bury). Hyatt Regency plans to open 30 new properties in China, India, Mongolia, Russia and the Middle East. Worldwide there are currently 149 Hyatt Hotels under operation. The Hyatt Hotels Corp. is currently present in Russia with the Ararat Park Hyatt Moscow and the Hyatt Regency Yekaterinburg.
Europe's VIP among the Grand Hotels, Kempinski, has also set his eyes on China as well as the Russian hotel market. Eight new top hotels with more than 2,200 rooms are currently under construction, two of them in the Russian capital. The largest hotel construction project is the Kempinksi Chernomoritz Park Spa Hotel in Sochi (TOPHOTELPROJECTS Nr. 9763) with 664 rooms. The opening is scheduled for early 2014.
The InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) also steps on the gas with seven hotel construction projects in Russia. Its major project Holiday Inn Crocus City (TOPHOTELPROJECTS Nr. 5639) with 1,000 rooms will open in two years. The continuously growing Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group even has 23 new building projects with nearly 5,000 rooms under way in Russia. Three of those will be operated under by the brands Radisson and Park Inn by Radisson in the Olympic holiday destination Sochi.
